Assessment of the Greenwich Village North UUAD
On October 13, 2020, the City Council approved the levy of an assessment to pay for the undergrounding of utilities in the Greenwich Village North Underground Utilities Assessment District. Of the ballots returned by the property owners 65.28% (by weighted assessment) were in favor of forming the district, in order to facilitate the financing of the undergrounding project. The Final Engineer's Report was filed with the Public Works Department upon formation of the district.
Next Steps
- Complete design and advertise for bids for construction in 2024.
- Assessments will be recorded as liens on all parcels within the district.
- Southern California Edison (SCE), Crown Castle, and Frontier will begin design for the undergrounding project, with SCE taking the lead. Design is estimated to take 18-24 months to complete.
- Property owners are able to pre-pay any amount of their assessment until notice is given that the cash payment period is ending. The end of the cash-payment period will be coordinated with completion of design.
