The Hermosa Beach Police Department is in the process of transitioning to a new Policy platform, Lexipol. While most policies have already been migrated, a few are still being reviewed and can be found in the previous version of our manual. These policies remain fully in effect. All policies that have been successfully transferred are now available in the Lexipol version of the manual.

Military Equipment Funding, Acquisition and Use Policy 

On September 30, 2021, Governor Newsom signed Assembly Bill 481 to address the funding, acquisition, and use of military equipment by law enforcement agencies in California. Assembly Bill 481 has designated certain equipment as “military equipment,” regardless of whether it was procured from the military or not.

The purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines for the approval, acquisition, and reporting requirements of military equipment (Government Code 7070, Government Code 7071, and Government Code 7072).

License to Carry a Firearm Policy 

Pursuant to Penal Code section 26160, this Policy is intended to provide the public with a summary of the criteria that the Hermosa Beach Police Department (“Department”) considers when reviewing applications for a license to carry a concealed weapon (“CCW license”).
