In 2021, the Hermosa Beach Police Department began reporting crime statistics using the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). NIBRS collects data on all victims and crimes within a single incident. This change in collection of data could create a difference in comparison to the Uniform Crime Report. The UCR reporting recorded one crime per incident, that being the highest level of crime for the incident.
The data contained in this report is subject to change and is updated continually as more information is gathered through the investigative process. The data is dynamic and additional information may be added or refined after the data is sent to the FBI. Although the FBI updates databases regularly, the updates may not be reflected the same in published reports.
