The Safe Routes to School Program is a partnership between the Hermosa Beach City School District and the City of Hermosa Beach, including the Hermosa Beach Police Department. Safe Routes to School programs strive to create a safe, convenient, and enjoyable opportunity for students to walk, bike, or skate to and from school and can help to reduce traffic strain on local streets around the schools and throughout the city.

Plan Your Route

Whether walking, biking, or driving, the City and School District have programs to help everyone get to and from school safely and efficiently. Learn more about each program below or check out the Safe Routes to School map.

Safety Best Practices

Crossing guards are stationed at key locations during school drop-off and pick-up times to help students get safely to and from school. Whether you are walking, biking, or driving, please observe directions from our crossing guards, or public safety officials, yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk, and proceed with caution through intersections.

Secure Your Equipment

529-Garage-Logo-USIf you are planning to ride, scoot, or skate to and from school, make sure you have a plan to secure your equipment. Each school has space for students to securely store equipment during the day. It is important to bring and always lock your equipment when at school and around town.

You can also register your bike with the Hermosa Beach Police Department to help return bikes that may be recovered if they have been reported lost or stolen.
