AUTOMATED SOLAR PLAN REVIEWS

Before applying for an automated solar plan review and solar permit, projects must follow certain requirements. At this time, SolarAPP+ is designed to provide a code-compliance check for the majority of residential, roof-mounted, retrofit photovoltaic systems. To see which systems are eligible, please refer to the SolarApp+ Eligibility Checklist.

Only projects that conform to this list are eligible to use the automated SolarAPP+ portal for instant permitting. See SolarApp+ Tutorial for more information.

1. Submit for automated review through SolarAPP+:

  • To start using SolarAPP+, register and submit your design through the SolarAPP+ Webpage.
  • A processing fee will be charged by SolarAPP+. Download the approved plans and inspection checklist.

3. Apply for a City of Hermosa Beach Permit:

  • Active City of Hermosa Beach Business License is required. Contractor must also be added to SolarAPP+ program eligibility list. Please email team@solar-app.org to request to be added to the program eligibility list.
  • Apply for a City of Hermosa Beach SolarPV permit via Hermosa Beach Online Permitting (ACA), and upload all documents.
  • If your PV System includes ESS Equipment, the approved plans, or the expedited checklists from LA County Fire must be uploaded.
  • Pay for the permit, a credit card processing fee will will be charged by PayPal.

4. Schedule Inspection

  • Inspections can be requested online via this link: Hermosa Beach Building Inspection Request
  • Installers must have the approved plans, LA Fire referenced ESS documents (if applicable), and the inspection checklist for all inspections.
  • Return the Signed permit card to the City.
