Know Your Watering Schedule

Watering landscapes and lawns is limited to the hours between 6 p.m. and 9 a.m., for 15 minutes per watering station or area. 

These irrigation restrictions do not apply to:

• Landscape zones with drip and/or micro-spray irrigation systems
• Irrigating with a hand-held bucket or similar container, with a continuously monitored hose fitted with an automatic shut-off nozzle or similar device
• Areas irrigated with reclaimed water

Prohibited Uses of Water 

X Applying water to outdoor landscapes that causes runoff

X Applying water to outdoor landscapes during and within 48 hours after measurable rainfall

X Using a hose without a shut-off nozzle or similar device

X Applying water to driveways and sidewalks

X Using water in a fountain or other decorative water feature that does not use a recirculating system

Fix Your Leaks

All leaks, breaks, or malfunctions in your plumbing fixtures and irrigation system must be repaired five business days.

 Water-efficient - complies with water conservation standards of California

• Plumbing Code or is EPA WaterSense labeled www.epa.gov/watersense or
  equivalent, or if none apply then:
  • Spray irrigation systems: min. 70% efficiency standard
  • Drip irrigation systems: max. 2 gallons per hour
  • Water broom or pressure washer: max. 3 gallons per minute
  • Pre-rinse dishwashing nozzles: max. 1.6 gallons per minute
  •  Dishwashing systems: max. water factor 6.0 (gal. per cycle/ tub vol.)

• Do not use water to clean sidewalks, walkways, patios, driveways, alleys, parking or similar areas, whether paved or unpaved
• Businesses can still use water-efficient water brooms, pressure washer, and water recycling system

• Must have recirculating water

Only using bucket or handheld hose with automatic shut-off nozzle

• If some runoff from rinse water is generated, pay attention to where the runoff will flow, and don’t let it run through dirty areas on its way to the storm drain. Redirect the runoff using sand bags or other type of raised barrier.
• Use a bucket of soapy water instead of applying soap or detergent directly to rag, sponge or car. Squeeze rags or sponges out into the bucket and not onto the ground.
• Products labeled “biodegradable” can still harm to aquatic life even if it is safe for plants, so empty soapy water buckets into a toilet or sink. 
• Vacuum or shake mats off over a trash can or landscaped area to avoid dumping dirt and debris directly onto the ground. 

• Serve water by request only
• Use only water brooms, buckets, low flow
  methods
• Pre-rinse nozzles must be water efficient
• All dishwashers must be water efficient
