As part of a larger movement on the management of public information in the digital age, Governor Brown approved SB 272 in October of 2015. SB 272 added a section to the California Public Records Act requiring cities, counties and special districts to create a catalog of enterprise systems and publicly post these catalogs on their agency websites no later than July 1, 2016.
