Construction Project
The City contracted with the Los Angeles County Fire Department in 2017 to provide fire protection services to the community and a remodel of the existing fire station was included in the agreement. Construction began in September 2019 and the fire station remodel was completed August 2020.
The renovation project included the removal of the second floor, installation of a new roof, and a redesign of the first floor to include five dormitories, two ADA accessible restrooms, an office, a remodeled kitchen, HVAC, and new lighting. Exterior changes include tinted and retrofitted windows and newly designed landscaping.
The Completed Fire Station
LA County Fire officially moved in to the renovated Hermosa Beach fire station on August 30, 2020. While an official dedication ceremony is not possible at this time due to COVID-19, you can take a virtual tour of the renovated LA County Fire Station 100 (may not be compatible with Internet Explorer or other web browsers).
Firehouse Dedication: Leadership Hermosa 2020 Class Project
Leadership Hermosa Beach Class of 2020's community service project, Firehouse Dedication, is an effort to highlight and honor the history of firefighters and fire service in Hermosa Beach.
A new flagpole and dedication area was designed for the front of Station 100's renovated firehouse on Pier Avenue. The area along the sidewalk includes a history of fire service in Hermosa. And surrounding the flagpole are more than 150 engraved bricks from community members showing their support. The area is accessible to the public directly in front of the firehouse and will be something Hermosa Beach can enjoy for decades. Learn more about the Class of 2020 community service project, check out their project presentation and see the finished flag pole and dedication area in the 360 virtual tour.
