CIP 421: Sewer Improvement Project - Phase 1

Project Description:

The City of Hermosa Beach has contracted with Southwest Pipeline to perform sewer repair and improvement work throughout the City. The project includes root removal, sewer lining installation, and point repairs of approximately 8,000 feet of sewer segments in five major areas of the City. These areas include the western portion of Hermosa Beach, near Prospect Ave. between 6th St. and 16th St., including sewer segments on 7th Pl., 7th St., and Aviation Blvd; eastern portion of Hermosa Beach, along Hermosa Avenue and Manhattan Ave. between 14th St. and 19th St; the northern portion of Hermosa Beach, near the intersection of Park Ave. and 25th St; the southwest portion of Hermosa Beach along Beach Dr. between 3rd Ct and 9th Ct; and the area extending along Bayview Dr. between 8th St. and Pier Ave.

This project is funded by the sewer levy fees.

Project Status:

Project completed April 2022.

Current Construction Update:

From January 24, 2022 , to January 28, 2022, point repairs will continue on 19th St, between Hermosa Ave. and Manhattan Ave.; Bayview Dr., between Pier Ave. and 10th St.; and 3rd Ct., between Beach Dr. and Hermosa Ave. with a new maintenance access hole.

Pipe lining of sewer main on Owosso Ave. between Aviaton Blvd. and 14th St., 7th S.t and Prospect Ave., Campana St. between Joy St. and Prospect Ave., and on Prospect Ave. between 10th St. and 11th St.

Prior Construction Updates:

January 10 - 21, 2022

Point Repairs will occur on Clark Field, Aviation Blvd between Owosso Ave and Aubrey Ct, 7^th Pl between Prospect Ave and Reynolds Ln, 19^th St between Hermosa Ave and Manhattan Ave, Bayview Dr between Pier Ave and 10^th St, Prospect Ave between 16^th St and 15^th St. Also, two new maintenance access holes will be installed on 3^rd Ct between Hermosa Ave and Beach Dr.

The City of Hermosa Beach has contracted with MNR Construction, Inc. to perform sewer repair work throughout the City. The project includes root removal, sewer lining installation, repair, and replacement of approximately 11,000 feet of sewer segments in four major areas of the City. The areas include the northwest portion of Hermosa Beach; the northeast portion of Hermosa Beach, immediately south of Artesia Boulevard and east of Pacific Coast Highway; the southwest portion of Hermosa Beach, along Hermosa Avenue between 1st Street and 8th Street; and, near the intersection of Park Avenue and Loma Drive. This project also includes lining, repair, and replacement of approximately 60 defective maintenance access holes.

Construction Updates:

For April 2020: Project Closeout
For February 2020 to March 2020: Sewer frames and covers replacement. Grinding and pavement of trenches. Lining of sewer mains.
For December 2019 through January 2020: Sewer maintenance access holes removal and replacement.
For November 4 through November 22: CCTV recording and cleaning of sewer main. Construction of point repairs and removal and replacement.
