Hermosa Beach is a CalPERS agency, which offers reciprocity between agencies. Classic tier II employees, who have been in the CalPERS system and are new to the City of Hermosa Beach, will receive a 2% @ 60 formula. Employees new to the City and CalPERS, and do not belong to a reciprocal agency of CalPERS, will receive the tier III formula of 2% @ 62. Employees are required to contribute 7% of pensionable income towards their retirement benefit. Deductions are made on a pre-tax basis.

Pension contribution limitations set by PEPRA are currently $153,671 for new members and $290,000 for classic members.

Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan: Optional participation. City Matching available for classifications within the Professional & Administrative Employee Group, Police Management Employee Group, and Management Employee Group.
