To run for City Council, City Clerk or City Treasurer elected offices, please make an appointment with the City Clerk's office to receive a briefing on filings and other requirements (campaign finance, etc.).  There is no filing fee to run for City office. Terms are generally four years except for 2017 and 2019 elections for which five year terms will be served. Beginning in 2022, the City will switch from "odd" year to "even" year elections to align with Los Angeles County's election schedule which should result in higher voter turnout and reduced City election costs.
