National Voter Registration Day

Calling on elementary school kids to write letters to the mayor to share what "Vote Ready" means to them

National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday celebrating our democracy. First observed in 2012, it has quickly gained momentum ever since. Nearly 4.7 million voters have registered to vote on the holiday to date. 

According to U.S. Census data from 2020, as many as 1 in 4 eligible Americans are not registered to vote. Every year, millions of Americans cannot vote because they miss a registration deadline, don’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register. National Voter Registration Day wants to make sure everyone has the opportunity to vote

Celebrate democracy in America by registering to vote on September 20 at registertovote.ca.gov.

Kids Invited to Write a Letter to the Mayor

This year, we are seeking the participation of elementary school students to amplify the National Voter Registration Day theme of #VoteReady to the larger community.

Write to the City of Hermosa Beach Mayor to share what this year’s National Voter Registration Day theme, #VoteReady, means to you. 

Your #VoteReady letter will be read by the Mayor and could be showcased on our City’s website. Let’s encourage everyone to be #VoteReady!

  • WHO can participate: All elementary school students who either attend a school in Hermosa Beach or live in Hermosa Beach are invited to participate.

City staff may share your letter to the Mayor on the City’s social media platforms to promote the National Voter Registration Day #VoteReady campaign. The Mayor will read all submissions. Write to the Mayor about what #VoteReady means to you. Your letter may be shared on:
