Join us as we search out best tacos in Southern California! Los Angeles has long been the goto place for the taco crazed. On this tour, you will be introduced to some of the best tacos in town. While we eat, we will learn about the history of the neighborhoods we visit and the context of each taco we try.
Our taco tasting adventure begins at a taqueria in downtown L.A. with a freshly made corn tortilla stuffed with homestyle stewed beef and an “Armando Palmero” (a Mexican style “Arnold Palmer”) to drink. We continue to East Los Angeles where endless variations and regional styles have worked their way up from the streets into standalone taquerias and restaurants. Taco lovers have been coming here for decades, not only for the tacos, but for the neighborhood that is oneofakind — full of colorful murals, unique history and incredible energy. Enjoy a shrimp taco and a fish taco from two different “mom and pop” taco shops while we learn how to find a quality taco stand, as well as the backstory of the owners.
Our taco feast winds down at Olvera Street where you will be treated to one of their famous taquitos! But this tour is more than just tacos. We will celebrate Mexican American culture with a visit to La Plaza de Cultura y Artes, the nation’s premier Mexican American museum featuring interactive exhibits exploring the ongoing story of Mexican Americans in Los Angeles and beyond. All in all, the tour includes five tacos, from hard shell fried to perfection, to traditional regional styles, to secret family recipes that really exemplify L.A. It’s pure deliciousness!
