Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day

  • Date: 10/13/2021  (all day)

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and October 13, 2021 is Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) Awareness Day. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the world, and second leading cause of cancer death among women in the United States. Metastatic breast cancer occurs when breast cancer spreads to other parts of the body, including the bones, lungs, liver and brain. The national #LightUpMBC campaign illuminates landmarks in the metastatic colors of teal, pink and green, throughout the world, bringing awareness to the disease and to honor the daily number of lives lost to MBC. The teal color portrays healing and spirituality. Green represents the triumph of spring over winter, life over death, renewal, hope, and immortality and the thin pink overlay signifies that the cancer originated in the breast.

The City of Hermosa Beach is proud to join the @LightUpMBC global campaign by lighting up Pier Plaza in teal, pink and green to shine a light on Metastatic Breast Cancer.

Tune in to #LightUpMBC Live on 10/13 @8:30pm EST on  LiveXLive , metavivor.org, Metavivor FacebookNational Metastatic Breast Cancer Day
